Cloudflare and AI: Is there an MCP server for Cloudflare?

Cloudflare runs a global network for CDN, DNS and security, plus the Workers developer platform. If you want an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to work with Cloudflare, the first question is: is there an MCP server for it?

Yes, several. The main one is the Cloudflare API MCP Server: one server for the whole Cloudflare API. There are also servers for the docs, for a browser and for single products. And Cloudflare is itself a platform where you run your own MCP servers.

What Cloudflare offers itself

The API MCP server. According to the Cloudflare docs, it runs at https://mcp.cloudflare.com/mcp and covers over 2,500 endpoints, from DNS through Workers to Zero Trust. Instead of hundreds of tools it uses “Code Mode”: the assistant searches the API and runs calls. Sign-in uses OAuth, where you choose the rights, or an API token.

Further servers. The same page lists servers for the Cloudflare docs, for a browser that fetches pages and takes screenshots, and for single products such as Cloudflare One. According to the docs, the API server covers most cases.

Your own MCP servers. With the Agents SDK you run your own MCP servers on Workers, with sign-in through Cloudflare Access or another OAuth provider.

Data location and AI. Cloudflare is a global network. Where data is inspected and stored is controlled by the Data Localization Suite, according to Cloudflare a paid add-on for Enterprise customers only. According to Cloudflare, content processed by Workers AI is not used for training.

What this means for your company

The API server can do everything your token or OAuth approval allows, including changing DNS records and firewall rules. So:

• Give the assistant its own API token with the smallest rights it needs, for example read-only.
• Let a person confirm changes to DNS and security rules.
• If you want to connect your own systems through MCP, Workers is an obvious place for it.
