dectria builds and runs applications on Microsoft Azure: web apps and APIs on App Service and Container Apps, AI features with Azure OpenAI, and sign-in with Microsoft Entra ID. Azure is our first choice when a company already relies on Microsoft.

NetCero, an ESG platform in which dectria holds a stake, uses Azure OpenAI with data processing in the EU. This production experience feeds into client projects – for example when choosing the right deployment type.

Not every project needs Azure. For lighter applications, we use Vercel, Cloudflare or our own servers in the EU.

What is Azure – and when is it worth it?

Microsoft Azure is Microsoft's cloud platform for applications, databases and AI services such as Azure OpenAI.

Azure is worth it when your company already relies on Microsoft – with Entra ID and Microsoft 365 –, when you want to use Azure OpenAI with data processing in the EU, or when enterprise compliance comes first. It is not worth it for small projects without a Microsoft tie-in: Vercel, Cloudflare or your own server are simpler and cheaper there.

Microsoft Azure FAQ

When does dectria recommend Azure?

When your company uses Entra ID and Microsoft 365, when you need Azure OpenAI with data processing in the EU, or when your IT sets Azure as the platform. For projects without a Microsoft tie-in, Vercel, Cloudflare or your own servers are often simpler.

Does Microsoft train its models on our data?

No. According to Microsoft, prompts and completions in Azure OpenAI are not used to train the base models and are not available to OpenAI. For abuse monitoring, Microsoft may store and review flagged requests – for resources in the European Economic Area, by staff located in the EEA. Companies can apply to turn off this storage.

Does our data stay in the EU with Azure OpenAI?

That depends on the deployment type. With Global, processing can happen worldwide; with Data Zone EU, in EU member states; with a regional deployment, in your resource's geography. Stored data stays in that geography in all cases. For projects with personal data, we choose at least the EU data zone.

Does dectria support migration and architecture on Azure?

Yes. We assess existing applications, plan the target architecture and migrate step by step – for example from your own servers to App Service or Container Apps. After that, we optimize cost and monitoring in operation.
