Docker
Applications that run the same everywhere – on the laptop, in the cloud and on your own servers.
dectria packages applications with Docker into containers that run the same in every environment: in local development, in CI/CD pipelines and in production.
For development, we start all services of a project – API, database, background jobs – with Docker Compose and a single command. In production, containers run on managed services such as Azure Container Apps or Render, or on our own servers in the EU.
For on-premises clients, we deliver applications as versioned images that run in their infrastructure without changes.

Your contact Michael Jauk Contact for cloud & infrastructure What is Docker – and when is it worth it?
Docker packages an application with all its dependencies into an image that runs as a container the same way on any system with Docker. Differences between a developer laptop, a test system and a production server disappear.
Docker is worth it for backends, background services and anything that should run on your own servers or at a client's site. It is hardly worth it for static websites or frontends that platforms such as Cloudflare or Vercel deliver without containers anyway.
Docker Compose, managed container service or Kubernetes?

| Scaling | manual, on one server | automatic | automatic and finely controllable |

| Suited for | development, smaller systems, on-premises | most web applications | many services and a dedicated platform team |

Typical Use Cases
Reproducible Development Environments
All services of a project start with one command – identical for every team member and for the CI pipeline.
Delivery to Client Infrastructure
Versioned images that run at the client's site without changes, with a clear path for updates and rollbacks.
Operation in the Cloud
Containers on managed services such as Azure Container Apps or Render that scale automatically and need no cluster of your own.
