ELO from Stuttgart is software for document management, archiving and workflows. If you want an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to work with documents from ELO, the first question is: is there an MCP server for it?

In short

We found no official MCP server from ELO. There are, however, two open-source servers on GitHub. Neither writes by default.

What ELO offers itself

The ELO Assistant. According to ELO, ELO ECM Suite 25 brings an AI assistant that analyses content, extracts data and answers questions. Companies can use their own language models or connect an AI provider of their choice. Where data is processed therefore depends on the chosen model.

The Indexserver. Programs access the archive through the ELO Indexserver. Most of its documentation is behind the login for ELO partners. We could not search for an MCP server there.

What the community offers

  • According to its README, Herzog-GmbH/elo-mcp needs Windows and an installed ELO Client. The server works with your own ELO account. Reading is always on, writing and building workflows are switched on one by one. The README points out that a session may use an extra ELO licence. MIT licence.
  • LOUPZ-DE/elo-mcp-server offers search, folders, full text and metadata. Writing is off until ELO_WRITE_ENABLED=true is set and then needs a sign-in with your own ELO account. The licence is CC BY-NC 4.0, so not for commercial use without permission.

What this means for your company

  • Clarify with your ELO partner which licence AI access uses.
  • The archive often holds contracts and personnel files. Let the assistant search only with the rights of the user in question.
  • Check a community server’s licence before you use it in your company.
