timr by troii Software GmbH from Braunau am Inn, Austria, is software for time tracking, project times and drive logs. If you want an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot to work with timr data, the first question is: is there an MCP server for it?
In short
Yes. timr offers its own MCP server, the timr MCP Connector. With it, you query working times, project hours, time accounts and absences directly in the chat, and create or change entries. According to timr, it is available for all timr accounts, regardless of the plan.
What timr offers itself
The timr MCP Connector. timr introduced it in 2026 together with the Jira integration and REST API 1.0. The assistant only sees the data and functions the signed-in timr user is allowed to use. According to timr, the available functions depend on the plan, the add-ons and the permissions.
A REST API. On developer.timr.com, timr documents a REST API with OAuth2, for your own integrations, for example with an ERP.
Data location. According to timr.com, the servers are in Germany.
How to connect timr to an AI assistant
The steps are in the timr support article (German). In short:
- ChatGPT: Search for timr in the marketplace, open the timr app and sign in with your timr credentials. In a managed workspace, an administrator may have to enable the app first.
- Claude: Under Settings → Connectors, add a custom connector with the server URL
https://mcp.timr.app/mcp, then connect and sign in with your timr credentials. According to timr, this is the route for now, because the entry in Claude’s directory is still faulty. - Other MCP clients: The same server URL. If the client asks for its own OAuth client ID, a timr administrator creates credentials once.
According to timr, ChatGPT and Claude need neither administrator rights in timr nor your own API credentials. Each user signs in with their own timr account.
What this means for your company
The connector takes over the user’s rights. So the main question is not technology but approval: which AI assistants the company allows, and whether they may change entries. timr also recommends clarifying this before use.
If you prefer to use the REST API yourself, for example for your own agents, you can run your own MCP server. Michael Jauk of dectria published one as open source: timr-mcp in the timr-client repository.
