PostHog is a product analytics platform with session replay, feature flags, experiments and error tracking. For companies in Europe there is PostHog Cloud EU. If you want an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor to work with PostHog data, the first question is: is there an MCP server for it?
In short
Yes. PostHog runs an official MCP server that also works with the EU Cloud. The assistant can query analyses, investigate errors and create feature flags or dashboards. On request it runs read-only.
What PostHog offers itself
The MCP server. The address is https://mcp.posthog.com/mcp. According to the PostHog docs, an assistant can read and write across all PostHog products through it. Sign-in routes you to the correct data region, US or EU. OAuth is the recommended sign-in; a personal API key also works. According to the FAQ, a header or a URL parameter switches the server to read-only mode.
Data location. According to PostHog, PostHog Cloud EU runs on servers in Frankfurt.
AI in the product. PostHog AI answers questions about your own data and creates analyses. According to the FAQ, PostHog has subprocessors outside the EU also for the EU Cloud, and PostHog staff may access data from outside the EU.
What this means for your company
Technically, PostHog is connected in a few minutes. The real question is what the assistant may do:
- Give analysts read-only mode first. Changing feature flags or experiments affects your live product.
- For the EU Cloud, check whether PostHog AI fits your data protection rules. The MCP server and PostHog AI are two different things.
- Decide which AI assistants the company allows. Data that reaches the assistant falls under its terms.
