Abacus from Abacus Research AG in Wittenbach (St. Gallen) is ERP software for Swiss companies. If you want an AI assistant such as Claude, ChatGPT or Microsoft Copilot to work with Abacus data, the first question is: is there an MCP server for it?
In short
We found no official MCP server from Abacus, no announcement in the press releases on abacus.ch, and no freely available one from the community. Abacus relies on its own AI features in the product (Abacus Intelligence). For external connections, Abacus describes a REST API. Commercial providers build MCP servers on top of it.
What Abacus offers itself
AI in the product. With version 2025, Abacus introduced the AI suite Abacus Intelligence, according to its press release. According to Abacus, it offers control by chat or voice, automatic text generation, document recognition (DeepO), help with questions about the software, a data analyser for key figures and actions that you can start directly from the chat. There is also the app AbaClik AI. On the product page, Abacus does not say which licence Abacus Intelligence needs. According to Abacus, Artificialy SA from Lugano developed the models, and the hosting company Tinext processes all AI data exclusively in Swiss data centres in Ticino. Abacus says it does not use models from OpenAI, Google Gemini or Microsoft. Abacus does not describe a way to connect external assistants such as Claude or ChatGPT to Abacus Intelligence.
A REST API. In the REST API documentation, Abacus describes access through a service user. You create it in the Abacus user management. It signs in with a client ID and client secret through OAuth and has no access to the user interface. In the documentation’s example, the access token is valid for 600 seconds. The API Hub names three interfaces: REST APIs, ODBC/JDBC and AbaConnect. The OData endpoints follow OData 4.0 and run on the customer’s own Abacus server. According to the API Hub, each individual connection must be activated. We found no price or licence terms for it.
What we did not find. We found no mention of MCP in the press releases on abacus.ch, in the API Hub or on the product pages. The Abacus help portal (help.abacus.ch) requires a login, so we could not read it. According to its own page, Apideck lists Abacus as “on our radar”, meaning not yet supported. On GitHub, we found only a C# client and an n8n node for the REST API for the ERP, and no MCP server.
Commercial providers
We name these providers only as they describe themselves. We tested none of the services.
- Fritsche Engineering AG. According to Fritsche Connect, the service exposes selected Abacus functions, such as “create customer” or “create quote”, as an MCP server. According to Fritsche, it works with ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini and custom agents, runs in a data centre in Zurich and needs a registration by the Abacus sales partner.
- Pexon. According to Pexon, the company builds Abacus MCP servers on the REST API on customer order. Pexon writes there that Abacus Research ships no MCP server (as of 21 September 2026).
- Maesn. Maesn offers a unified interface over the Abacus REST API and AbaConnect. Maesn also lists an MCP server as a product. Its Abacus page does not prove a ready-made Abacus MCP server.
What this means for an AI connection
An MCP server for Abacus sits between the assistant and the REST API. It should
- map the rights of each user, because, according to its documentation, Abacus designed the REST API for access through a service user and not for the person who asks,
- expose only the functions the use case needs,
- start read-only. Write access needs its own approval.
To clarify first: which interfaces and entities your Abacus version provides, which licence the connection needs, and whether the data may leave your network. Your Abacus sales partner can answer this.
