bexio and AI: Is there an MCP server for bexio?

bexio is cloud software for bookkeeping, invoicing, payroll and projects for small and medium-sized companies in Switzerland. If you want an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to work with invoices and contacts, the question is: is there an MCP server for it?

In short

We found no official MCP server from bexio. But there are several third-party servers based on the REST API. According to bexio, API access with OAuth is free.

What bexio offers itself

The REST API. The documentation describes a REST API. It supports OAuth and Personal Access Tokens. According to the documentation, a token has all default scopes and is valid for 60 days. According to the bexio help centre, API access with OAuth is free. We found no statement on whether a specific package is required. The pricing page lists “Developer API” only as a link.

Data location. According to bexio, the company stores all information exclusively in certified Swiss data centres. Switzerland is not in the EU. The statement covers bexio itself, not an MCP server or AI assistant that you connect.

AI in the product. According to bexio, the AI reads receipts automatically, suggests matching bookings and reconciles bank movements. According to bexio, the bexio Go app offers AI-controlled receipt reading with Scan2Go from the Advanced package. The monthly pages of bexio’s update news from January to October 2026 name no MCP, Claude or ChatGPT. The bexio help centre search returns no hit for MCP, Claude or ChatGPT on 2026-11-07. According to the bexio help centre, there is also Kontera AI. According to the help centre, the Kontera AI Agent suggests account assignments for documents and must be activated in Kontera. According to the bexio Go page, Kontera is a Marketplace app. We read both help articles only in the English translation.

What third parties offer

• According to its README, PromptPartner/bexio-mcp-server runs locally in Claude Desktop or as an HTTP server, for example for n8n. It uses a Personal Access Token. The README names 315 tools, for example to create, issue and send invoices. It calls the state “Early Release”. The last commit is dated 2026-09-28, the licence is MIT.
• According to its README, lukeisontheroad/bexio-mcp is a remote server for Claude, ChatGPT and other clients. At sign-in you set each area to “Off”, “Read” or “Read & write”. The README describes a free hosted instance with no warranty and a self-hosting option. The repository is new (created 2026-10-15) and has no stars.
• According to its own page, Bilano offers a remote MCP server for bexio with OAuth. According to Bilano, it runs on Infomaniak’s public cloud in Switzerland. According to Bilano, read access is in the free plan and write access in the Pro plan. This is a vendor statement, and we have not tested the service.
• According to its own page, Truto offers more than 300 MCP-ready tools for bexio. According to its own page, Activepieces offers an MCP server that exposes bexio next to many other apps. Neither page proves what the service does in a given case.
• According to its own page, FlowHunt names a hosted MCP server for bexio, for example with tools for items. According to its own page, AnythingMCP names 12 tools for bexio, source code under AGPL-3.0 with self-hosting, and a paid cloud after a 7-day trial that AnythingMCP says is hosted in the EU. We have not tested either service.
• According to its own page, Zapier names Zapier MCP on its bexio page for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other MCP clients, with example actions such as “Create Manual Entry” and “Create Company”. We have not tested this. The Make documentation on bexio names no MCP server.

What this means for your company

• According to bexio, a Personal Access Token has access to all of the company’s data. Check whether a server with limited areas is enough.
• A third-party server sees your accounting data. Review it yourself before you use it, or run your own.
• Once an assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT writes an answer, its provider processes the retrieved data. bexio’s Swiss data location does not apply to that.
