Clockodo by Clockodo GmbH from Unna, Germany, is software for work time, project time and absence tracking. If you want an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to work with Clockodo data, the first question is: is there an MCP server for it?
In short
Yes. According to itself, Clockodo runs an official MCP server and presented it on its blog on 9 April 2026. According to the pricing page, all four paid plans list it (Basic, Basic Plus, Pro, Pro Plus). Since November 2026, Clockodo also describes a connector for Claude and a plugin for ChatGPT. The assistant can also change and delete data if you enable such tools.
What Clockodo offers itself
The MCP server. According to Clockodo, the server runs at mcp.clockodo.com. Its tools build on the Clockodo REST API and cover time tracking, projects and administration. Setup runs in Clockodo under Integrations in the AI add-ons tab: you create an MCP configuration and select the tools. According to the blog, the server adds no new rights. The rights of the user who set up the connection apply. The assistant cannot use tools that are not enabled.
Tools. The command list in the Help Center (dated 5 August 2026) names commands to create, read, change and delete, for example create_time_entry, update_time_entry, delete_time_entry, delete_customer and delete_project. It also lists start_clock and stop_clock for the stopwatch. Before you delete a customer or a project, the entry must be inactive, according to the description. Clockodo warns that tools with the prefixes create, update and delete can change data.
Sign-in. According to Clockodo, the assistant must support MCP and be able to sign in by HTTP header or Basic Auth. mcp.clockodo.com also serves OAuth metadata with dynamic client registration. We found no Clockodo documentation on whether and how OAuth works for the server.
Plan. The pricing page lists “MCP server” under the additional features in all four paid plans. For project time tracking these are Pro (10 € per user and month with monthly billing) and Pro Plus (12 €). For work time tracking only they are Basic (4 €) and Basic Plus (6 €). According to the page, prices exclude German VAT. We found no separate price for “AI add-ons”. The pricing page does not say whether the free plan for single users includes the MCP server.
Claude and ChatGPT. According to the blog of 6 November 2026, there is a Clockodo plugin in ChatGPT and a Clockodo connector in Claude. According to Clockodo, both use the existing MCP server. The Help Center describes setup for Claude and for ChatGPT. For company accounts, an administrator must first make the connector available in the service. You decide whether the assistant may only read or also act, and whether it asks before actions. According to the FAQ, Clockodo does not limit use to specific plans. The Claude and ChatGPT plans can limit the features, and Clockodo does not say which. The guide for Claude says “install the community connector”. We could not read the page in the Claude directory because Cloudflare blocked it. So we did not check who operates the connector.
A REST API. The API documentation is at docs.clockodo.com. According to the pricing page, “Open API” is listed in Basic, Basic Plus, Pro and Pro Plus.
AI in the product. According to the blog of 15 October 2026, Clockodo offers three AI features: time entries by voice input (beta, in Chrome, Edge and Safari on the desktop), improving descriptions and generating invoice texts. According to the Help Center, they apply to Pro or the trial period with project time tracking. For existing company accounts they are off by default, and an administrator switches them on. According to the Help Center, the invoice texts are created during invoicing through a Clockodo partner app. These features are not the MCP server.
Data location. According to the Help Center, Clockodo stores application data in data centers in Frankfurt and Berlin. According to Clockodo, the AI features use Microsoft Foundry through Microsoft Ireland Operations Limited, with processing in Microsoft’s EU Data Zone (EU, EEA and Switzerland). According to Clockodo, the AI provider does not store the data and does not train on it. These statements apply to the AI features in the product. We found no statement on where the MCP server runs or on what the providers of Claude and ChatGPT do with data. Clockodo advises you to check before use whether the chosen AI complies with your data protection requirements.
What the community offers
There are several free open-source servers. pfaeffli/clockodo-mcp-server (MIT, Python) has more than 25 tools according to its README, a Docker image and roles from employee to admin. The last commit is from 4 October 2026. kenzotp/mcp-clockodo (MIT) calls itself unofficial and has 12 tools. According to its README, deleting needs explicit confirmation. Both servers use the Clockodo REST API with an API key and do not build on the official server. Other small repositories with an MIT licence are I2olanD/clockodo-mcp (TypeScript, last updated March 2026) and MaxOstrowski/clockodo-mcp (Python, last updated January 2026). We did not assess further ones without a licence statement. We tested none of them.
As commercial offers, we name Zapier, which according to its own page offers Clockodo actions such as “Create Absence” as an MCP server (according to Zapier, one call uses 2 tasks of the plan). According to viaSocket, it also offers an MCP server for Clockodo actions. We also name the AnythingMCP connector with a hosted cloud service, which according to AnythingMCP has a 7-day free trial, and, according to Improvado, a connection for Claude, ChatGPT and Cursor. The pages do not prove which rights they use in Clockodo.
What this means for your company
- The official server can change and delete data. Enable only the tools the assistant needs.
- The assistant acts with the rights of the user who set up the connection. Review that user’s rights in Clockodo.
- Time tracking data is personal data. Before you connect it, clarify what the chosen AI service does with it.
- What reaches the AI assistant falls under its terms, no longer under Clockodo’s.
