Factorial is HR software with time tracking, time off, recruiting and further modules. According to its terms of use, the provider is Everyday Software, S.L. in Barcelona. In Germany, Factorial GmbH in Munich operates. If you want an AI assistant such as Claude or ChatGPT to work with Factorial, one question comes up fast: is there an MCP server for it?

In short

Yes. Factorial runs an official, hosted MCP server. You connect it as a custom connector by URL. According to Factorial, only requests to the Factorial One AI assistant need access to One. There are also community servers and commercial platforms.

What Factorial offers itself

The MCP server. Factorial describes it in the API documentation as a hosted server at https://mcp.factorialhr.com. It runs over Streamable HTTP and signs in with OAuth 2.0 and dynamic client registration. The server’s OAuth metadata is publicly readable. According to Factorial, every action runs under the identity of the signed-in user and that user’s Factorial permissions, never as an administrator or service account. Factorial names four direct capabilities: attendance (clock in and out, status), tasks (view and create), time off (view, types, request) and colleague lookup. A fifth capability passes questions and actions on to Factorial One, for example about policies, contracts and reports. The OAuth metadata names scopes such as employees, time_off, time_tracking, shift_management, tasks and one:write. We found no tool list with names. The help center describes what One may change in the product: on request it changes salary and contract data and cancels time off. Whether the MCP route allows this, Factorial does not say. According to the help center, some actions need a confirmation step that today can only be completed in Factorial One itself.

Clients. According to the changelog, Factorial verified the flow with Claude (web and desktop). For ChatGPT, the documentation names Developer Mode as a prerequisite. By its own account, Factorial is not yet in any connector directory. On Team and Enterprise accounts that block custom connectors, the administrator must add the connector for the organization. For Microsoft 365 Copilot, the help center names a different solution: Factorial One for Copilot, a separate integration instead of the MCP server. It requires Microsoft 365 Copilot and Factorial One enabled for the organization. Microsoft 365 itself has its own page: Microsoft 365.

Plan and credits. According to Factorial, the “Factorial One” capability works only if the plan includes access to Factorial One. It uses Factorial One credits. The direct tools use none today, but Factorial expects this to change. According to the help center, One exists in the tiers Free, Basic, Plus and Max. Each person has their own tier, and the tiers differ only in daily allowance, not in features. According to the FAQ about One, One starts at €2.50 per user. How this fits the MCP documentation, Factorial does not say. The pricing page names “from €8 per month and user” for Factorial as a whole, but no One prices. According to the help center, admins grant One per role. We found no restriction by plan or region for the direct tools.

A public API. The API documentation names two sign-in methods: API key and OAuth 2.0. According to Factorial, an API key gives access to all areas of the company and cannot be restricted. According to the API documentation, it does not expire. According to the help center, it can have an expiry date: new keys expire after 24 hours by default, and non-expiring keys are possible. Creating one needs administrator access. It is deprecated for marketplace integrations, where OAuth 2.0 is required. According to the documentation, Factorial releases a new API version each quarter and supports each for one year. We found no plan requirement for the API.

AI in the product. According to Factorial, Factorial One is an AI agent for HR, finance and IT. According to Factorial, it applies the person’s access rights to every request and asks permission before it acts. Under the terms of use, the customer grants Factorial and its AI service providers a limited licence to process input data to provide the AI services. The customer stays responsible for reviewing the outputs. According to the Factorial blog of 17 November 2025, One is built on Microsoft Azure, with Azure OpenAI in Foundry. The blog also shows a first scenario with the Business Central MCP server in Copilot chat. Business Central has its own page: Business Central. In the other direction, according to the help center, One can use other tools such as Slack, Notion or Jira through connectors. The MCP server of Factorial Code is a different product: according to its documentation, it runs scripts and processes, not HR tasks.

Data location. According to the FAQ about One, One keeps data in Factorial and in the EU. The privacy policy says the data is hosted and processed in the EU. That sentence sits in the section on Factorial’s own data processing (website, prospects, customers). For platform data, Factorial is a processor and points to the data processing agreement for sub-processors. We have not read it. As a rule, Factorial uses service providers in the EEA or in countries with an adequacy decision. In some cases data goes to processors in third countries, on the basis of an adequacy decision or standard contractual clauses. Factorial’s trust center names Amazon Web Services and Azure as infrastructure, but no region. We found no region for the MCP server.

What the community offers

ratek-20/factorial-mcp-server is an MIT-licensed server for time off (1 star, last change on 8 March 2026), including approve and cancel. According to its README, it runs locally over STDIO in Docker, signs in with OAuth2 and needs an OAuth application that the administrator creates in Factorial. We have not tested the server.

Commercially, StackOne (127 actions according to StackOne), Zapier and viaSocket offer Factorial through their own MCP servers. These pages prove only the platform’s offer, not fitness for daily use. MCPBundles (27 tools, read-only, API key according to MCPBundles) and AnythingMCP (5 tools, API key according to AnythingMCP) also list Factorial. According to a search result, CData names a Factorial server. The page blocks automated requests (Cloudflare) and we have not read it.

What this means for your company

HR data is among the most sensitive data in a company. So:

  • The official server can change data. The assistant acts with the rights of the signed-in user. Check the roles in Factorial.
  • An API key cannot be restricted. The ratek-20 server works with OAuth 2.0. If you want limited rights, choose OAuth 2.0.
  • Clarify with the works council and data protection which AI tools may see HR data.
  • Requests to Factorial One use credits of your Factorial plan. Check beforehand which One tier your users have and who may use One.
  • What reaches the AI assistant falls under its terms, not under those of Factorial.
